What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The personal data that we collect includes:
- Email Address
- IP Address
We collect this information when you comment on a post, fill out the contact form, or subscribe to our newsletter. Please see the below sections for more details on how your data is used.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, which include name, email address, and website. In addition, we collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
We use Akismet to monitor comments for spam. The information we collect typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, email address, and the comment itself).
We use WP Recipe Maker to track recipe ratings submitted through the comments form. When user ratings are enabled we store the IP address upon voting. This is used as (one of the) measures to prevent rating spam.
When visitors use the contact form, we collect name and email address. An email will be sent to us that contains the submitted information so that we can respond to the inquiry. We do not store this information in our database.
Visitors have the option of providing an email address in order to subscribe to receive periodic emails from us. These emails will notify visitors when new/updated recipes are posted and/or contain any other information related to this blog. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, follow the instructions at the bottom of each email and we will promptly remove you from all correspondence.
Do we use ‘cookies’?
Compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may also use trusted third-party services that track this information on our behalf.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you rate a recipe, a cookie is saved that contains the rating you have given to a particular recipe. This cookie is used as (one of the) measures to prevent rating spam.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. Since browser is a little different, look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.
We honor Do Not Track signals and Do Not Track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place. It’s also important to note that we do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.
If you turn cookies off, Some of the features that make your site experience more efficient may not function properly.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
This site uses Google Analytics through the Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP). Google Analytics collects first-party cookies, data related to the device/browser, IP address and on-site/app activities to measure and report statistics about user interactions on the websites and/or apps that use Google Analytics.
We do not track or send any personal information to Google. Through GADWP we have enabled IP address anonymization.
Google Analytics provides a browser extension that will allow users to opt-out of tracking across all websites. If you want to install it, here’s the link.
