What personal data we collect and why we collect it

The personal data that we collect includes:

  • Name
  • Email Address
  • Website
  • IP Address

We collect this information when you comment on a post, fill out the contact form, or subscribe to our newsletter. Please see the below sections for more details on how your data is used.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, which include name, email address, and website. In addition, we collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We use Akismet to monitor comments for spam. The information we collect typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, email address, and the comment itself).

We use WP Recipe Maker to track recipe ratings submitted through the comments form. When user ratings are enabled we store the IP address upon voting. This is used as (one of the) measures to prevent rating spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact Form

When visitors use the contact form, we collect name and email address. An email will be sent to us that contains the submitted information so that we can respond to the inquiry. We do not store this information in our database.

Newsletter Subscription

Visitors have the option of providing an email address in order to subscribe to receive periodic emails from us. These emails will notify visitors when new/updated recipes are posted and/or contain any other information related to this blog. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, follow the instructions at the bottom of each email and we will promptly remove you from all correspondence.
